Hi, I’m Candace.

I took my first yoga class in 2006, at a sandy beachside studio in New Zealand. After a decade of personal practice, I taught my first class at San Francisco’s Purusha Yoga Studio in 2016. Becoming a yoga teacher was not something I would have anticipated growing up-- I was always extremely unathletic and uncoordinated. But in yoga, I found a way of incorporating movement into my life that focuses on what I can do, not what I can’t do. I learned that, in yoga, you can adjust and modify any pose. You can make the practice fit your body, rather than expecting your body to change to fit into the practice. I love yoga because it’s versatile, customizable, and flexible. I have taught fast-paced Vinyasa, relaxing restorative, and everything in between! Before I devoted myself to yoga, I worked in the publishing industry for almost a decade. Now, I spend my time exploring joyful movement, writing, and raising one child with another due soon! I have an RYT 500 certification and am studying to become a certified yoga therapist.

My Approach

I know that yoga can be intimidating. From the use of Sanskrit to the pretzel-like poses, yoga can feel uncomfortable to new students. I was that new student once! Now, as a teacher, I’m passionate about making yoga accessible and inviting to everyone. I believe in meeting my students where they are, and helping them incorporate yoga into their lives. I seek to demystify this ancient practice for my students, and to make my yoga classes lighthearted, fun, and inclusive. Whether it’s a sweaty vinyasa class or a gentle stretch, I believe making time for yoga is one of the best things we can do for ourselves, and I feel so honored to help people find their perfect yoga practice.
